Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum's scenery can only be described as breathtaking. It is one of the world's most beautiful desert regions, with ancient valleys, granite outcrops and towering sandstone formations rising out of red coloured sand.

Follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia through the stunning natural beauty for an experience you will never forget. The area has been inhabited for millennia as indicated by the many inscriptions and is now home to several Bedouin tribes. Wadi Rum (The Sound of Silence) is a journey to another world, a vast silent place, timeless and starkly beautiful. It is located 320 km southwest of Amman 120km south Petra and only 60km north of Aqaba.
Wadi Rum is a protected area covering 720 square kilometers of dramatic desert wilderness in the south of Jordan. Huge mountains of sandstone and granite emerge, sheer-sided, from wide sandy valleys to reach heights of 1700 meters and more. Bedouin tribes still live among the mountains of Rum and their large goat-hair tents are a special feature of the landscape.

There are many ways to enjoy the attractions of Rum, including jeep, camel and hiking tours and you can also stay overnight in a Bedouin tent and gaze at the amazing panoply of stars.
Virtually all the people living in and around Wadi Rum today are of Bedouin origin and, until recently, led nomadic lives, relying on their goat herds. They are resourceful, hospitable people who are largely responsible for developing Wadi Rum as a tourist destination.
Book a tour
If you are going to Wadi Rum only for a day, we recommend a 3h jeep tour at the sunset, which we can help you to pre-book. You will start from Aqaba around 15:00 and a transfer car will take you to the beginning of the desert, which take about 1h. Then you will change driver to a bedouin and car to a jeep and this is where the tour starts.
During 3h the driver will take you around in the desert, showing you the true beauty of Wadi Rum and stop here and there for you to walk around, climb, relax and take photos. Keep in mind that the driver is only a driver and not a guide, but if you are lucky you might get a driver who loves to talk and act as a guide anyway. When the sun start to set you will drive to a good spot and watch the sun turn the desert sand all red, which is a wonderful moment. We can also organize one night in a desert camp for you.
