Dive holidays for kids of all ages!
Planning dive holidays before having children is a breeze. The only thing that you need to think about is where you want to go. Once there are chilren in the picture, the rules change for most things in our lives and that applies for travel as well. Many diving parents see the birth of a child as the end of their diving career and state that they will begin again when the child/ children are of age to learn to dive themselves. This need not be the case!! With so many places around the world open to us, the options for a family dive holiday are almost limitless.

Heather and Henrik from Scuba Travel travel extensively with their two small children (3 and 5 years old) and have been to over 15 countries with them including Indonesia, the Maldives, Canada, the US, Egypt and the Azores among others.
Heather has even traveled alone to Canada with the two kids on several occasions and has some good advice for parents facing long travel times!
To make it easier for you, we have started to arrange group trips with our family-friendly Scuba Travel Ambassador Annika Malmberg. Click on her name on the left sidebar to read more about her and the trips that she will be guiding.
Because not all of us like to, or want to travel in a group, then we can tailor-make a package that suits you and your family. Read the questions below and then contact us for an offer, and or advice: info@scubatravel.se
Important questions to ask yourself before planning your family dive holiday?
- Are you a family that likes adventure, or would you prefer a beach holiday for the kids and diving for yourself?
- Would you prefer to dive together as a couple, or would you rather split up the diving between you so that one parent can always be togther with the kids?
- Are the children able to participate in the scuba diving and we should therefore think about an area where diving is a bit easier and perhaps more shallow?
- Would you like to have childcare and/ or a kids club available?
- Would you like to be self-sufficient in terms of cooking, driving, etc., where possible?
- How far are you willing to travel with your children? For instance, if they are going to fly for the first time, then perhaps a shorter distance would suit the family better.
- If you have older children, is it ok that they have a separate hotel room, or would you prefer a family room? We will do our best to get you a hotel room with an adjoining inner door where possible.
Scuba Travel recommendations for families:
- Gozo, Malta - Hotel, apartment or even villas can be included in the package, as well as rental cars if needed. Gozo offers a more quiet vacation with nice beaches, playgrounds, VERY child-friendly people and great food.
- Northern Croatia - Hotel or apartment options available. Located right on the coastline, this small village of Cirvenicia has one of the best beaches in Croatia, playgrounds, very good, reasonably priced food and friendly people
- Cabilao, Philippines - With a family house, a pool, a great house reef and a beach to play on, this island offers something for the whole family
- Dahab, Egypt - With shorebased diving, a long beach promenade and a relaxed village area to visit, this is one of Egypts best spots for families.
- Pico, Azores - A hotel or an apartment can be included in the package, as wel as a rental car. From whale watching and dolphin swimming to visiting local museums or a fantastic playground, there is something here for the whole family.
