About the diving
Curaçao has much to offer for divers, especially beginners, and among divers, is very similar to her more well known sister island, Bonaire.
The best dive sites are located to the west of the island, and forty out of the islands sixty sites are located not far from shore and are therefore easily accessible. Curacao offers both boat and shore diving.
One of the islands best dive sites is the wreck of the Superior Producer, a seventy-metre long boat that has been resting on the seafloor for the past thirty years.

Alice in Wonderland (Playa Kalki)
At the island´s extreme west end, this shallow coral garden gives way to a drop-off shingled in plate corals. The site is populated by the ususal reef denizens plus larger gamefish in pursuit of baitfish.
Mushroom Forest
A glide through Curacao´s signature reef dive - and most popular - is not easily forgotten. Mountainous star coral heads in no more then 20 meters of water have been eroded at their bases, sprouting mushroom-like. This lush coral garden is tended to by loads of shelter-seeking fish.
Airplane Wreck
The wreck of a Cessna in 10 meters of water, encrusted in brain and star corals, is an easy dive. Follow along a drainage pipe over the sandy plain to the cockpit, at the lip of the drop-off. Dip over the edge to find the plane´s wings, as well as a nice little reef tended by flounder, morays and the occasional spotted eagle ray, seahorse and frogfish.
The Cave
Just a short distance from Mushroom Forest is The Cave, also called the Blue Room, a large, dramatic submerged chamber filled with plenty of ambient light. Curtains of glassy sweepers float around a large stony pillar in the center of the room. There is even an airpocket at the surface where you can go up to. Here you may also find squid, flounder and the occasional nursing shark.
Nos Cas (Our House)
One of the best house reefs on the island (just off of Habitat), morays of all shapes and sizes frequent this dive, as well as squid. An excellent night dive, lobsters and octopuses are often seen.
Superior Producer
In 1977, the 200 ft SPhad just set sail for Columbia when her cargo shifted, and she took on water and sank. Situated upright, between 20 and 40m, you´ll find three decades´ of sponges and coral growth, as well as loads of fish. Currents can be strong on this dive.
Seldom Reef
This site is rarely dived by local dive operators due to the fact that the swells can be large and the currents quite ripping. Curacao´s typically gradual slopping drop-offs are more vertical here, making this dive more dramatic. Look for groupers, barracuda and snapper. If you are lucky, dolphins are often spotted here.
Klein Curacao
A two hour boat ride from the main island, Klein Curacao offers pristine dive sites and sandy beaches. The four sides of the island make for different sites - one of which is perfect for beginners and the rest more advanced. Each offer great diving, with the chance to see turtles, dolphins, big game fish, mantas, sharks and much more.
Car Pile
This pile of cars, trucks and earth-moving equipment began as an artificial reef - project in the 1960´s. This is a deeper dive at 25-45 m.
Tugboat
It´s no Superior Producer, but this 30 ft wreck is a delight for divers and snorkelers alike. A wide-angle lens will allow you to capture the entire wreck. Close to the wreck are serene drop-offs and encrusted steel pillars.
