Dive centre

Emperor Divers operates from the Marina Lodge's purpose built dive centre, literally just a few meters away from the boats moored on the hotel jetty.  Boat dives depart from the hotel jetty avoiding the need for daily road transfers.

The European management arrange 2 boat dives per day, so that you can enjoy some fabulous dives at the famous reefs of Elphinstone, Marsa Mubarak and Dolphin House Reef (Shaab Samadai), where there is a good chance to see dolphins in this beautiful protected National Park. The bays here are home to excellent corals, large turtles and Guitar rays, and the islands off Marsa Alam are a highlight of the area.

The ‘underground’ classroom has observation windows into the 3 meter deep pool and a full range of PADI courses, including Nitrox certification, are available.

A typical day’s diving

7:45    Walk over to the dive centre and check in.  Collect any rental or personal equipment stored at dive centre. (Check in procedures take longer on the first day, often up to an hour.)

8:00    Walk over to board the boat (only about 100 m), meet the dive guide, and set up equipment before leaving the harbour to ensure everything is working.

8:30    Boat leaves for daily diving.

8:45    Boat and safety briefing if it is your first day, or a boat you haven’t dived from yet.

9:00-16:00    Full day diving, two dives, including dive briefings, and the services of the dive guide.  Lunch is served between the dives and costs 40 Le, which is payable to the dive guide daily.  This includes unlimited hot and cold drinks.

16:00-16:30    Return to harbour.  Most equipment like BCD’s, regulators, wetsuits and weight belts can be stored on the boat for the following days diving. Torches, cameras and computers should be taken back to the dive centre or your hotel room for recharging and downloading.

16:45    Relax and enjoy a drink together with your fellow divers to compare photos and stories.

What to wear

Most people don´t realize that during the wintertime, December through March, it can get quite cool in Egypt.  Therefore we recommend diving with at least a 5mm long suit. Consider even having a shorty over your long suit and a hood as extra protection.

If you need to rent equipment, please download a price list here. All equipment has to be pre-booked with Scuba Travel, but you pay locally at the dive centre.

Boat diving

The daily diving boats will transport you to two of the many dive sites available in the Marsa Alam area.  The experienced staff has the local expertise to ensure that you are fully briefed and well prepared for every dive.  The boats offer you a high degree of comfort, with a saloon, sundeck, bathroom facility and a small kitchen. You´ll be offered a delicious buffet style lunch and hot and cold drinks are made available.

All boats are equipped with oxygen, medic first aid equipment and VHF radios.
