Free Diving

Freediving is becoming more and more popular. So, what’s so fascinating about this sport? Is it about how deep you can go, pushing your own limits to the extreme, the physical challenge, or the beauty of the underwater world? It’s probably a combination of all of the above, as well as the amazing feeling of being completely relaxed underwater. When you reach that state you’re just a little bit closer to understand the world of the dolphins. It’s far more than just snorkeling.

It’s the ability to remain underwater for a long period of time and to dive to depths that someone without training would only be able to do with equipment. As you develop your freediving skills, you’ll find that you get more satisfaction when exploring the underwater world. And it will increase your safety and relaxation when scuba diving too.

Dahab is the place to learn freediving. Here you find the deep waters strait of shore, no boats needed. Since the instructor Lotta Ericson has been living in Dahab over the past few years, it has allowed her to dive daily and to train frequently with many of the worlds top freedivers. Lotta is a national record holder in several freediving disciplines.

Lotta, a world famous Swedish freediver and former world record holder, started working as a freediving instructor in 2004, when she moved to Dahab with her family. Since then she has been teaching AIDA courses, organizing record attempts, competitions and other freediving events.  She is also now both an AIDA Master Instructor and AIDA judge.

AIDA is the International association for the development of Apnea - is a Worldwide Federation for freediving, established in 1992. It manages and oversees the recognition of records, organizes competitions, and sets the standards for freediving education. AIDA certifies freedivers, instructors and judges.
